By maybe 90 minutes into the game I was still nowhere near being able to actually fly through the hoops, but I was pretty confident flying over the field, turning above hay bales, flying around trees, etc. By around 30-45 minutes I was actually beginning to understand how the sticks combined together (Jack's most recent video explaining how your forward pitch affects the balance of yaw vs roll you need to corner helped immensely here).
Yesterday I got a Taranis & installed Liftoff to 'practice', after watching some videos on YouTube from Jack FPV.įor maybe the first 15-20 minutes I could barely control the quad at all once I was off the ground I may as well have been a leaf in the wind. I also intend to get into FPV when I am better at piloting. I found the prospect of yawing the quad away from my frame of reference to be very intimidating, both because the controls become 'backwards' & because even with different colour front/rear propellers I struggled to work out the quad's orientation even when it was only 20ft away from me.ĭoes this get easier with practice? I see videos of people flying circles in LOS with lovely smooth banking turns & I wonder if I will ever be able to get my brain into the necessary mindset? I say 'flights' because I pretty much just hovered in attitude mode & banked/pitched forwards/backwards/left/right. I am very new to flying quads - I just did my first LOS 'flights' with my ZMR earlier this week.
